What Some Promoters Don’t Understand: Competition Addicts Can HELP You!
Ever read the terms and conditions of a competition and come across something similar to this?
“Entries not including all required information will be deemed ineligible. Compers and fake entrants are not permitted“
Ok so fake entrants, that’s fair enough. But COMPERS not allowed?
These types of promoters think competition addicts are soulless prize pigs (I swear I have a soul… ) that add no value to their business. This couldn’t be further from the truth.
Compers and sweepers, in fact, help to GROW your business. Whether or not they end up buying anything, they’re probably still sharing your business with their friends. Spreading the word!
I am also aware of a lot more brand names than I used to be. On several occasions, I have purchased products from companies that I became interested in after entering one of their competitions.
What can we do about it?
I tend to avoid businesses that state they don’t want compers or sweepers entering. If you spot one of these, it’s also worth sending the promoter a message to educate them about how we’re still helping them to grow their business.
Can’t we all just get along?
