When Public Voting Competitions go Wrong: Sydney Ferry Named Ferry McFerryFace

I remember when I first read about this last year, I couldn’t stop laughing and seeing as this is a blog about competitions, it should be mentioned here!

If you’re ever going to host a voting competition, be aware – results may vary!

In Sydney last year the local council decided to let the public name one of their new inner city ferries by a vote.

Rule #1 – Don’t trust the public to name ANYTHING. Britain’s polar research ship ended up as ‘Boaty McBoatFace’ and a Swedish express train ‘Trainy McTrainFace.’ It was only inevitable that Sydney’s ferry would follow the same fate.
